It will start ok (4-5 pulls), but when I drove it, it will go for about 100 feet then practically stop. If I let of gas pedal to about halfway, then it will start going fast again. It's like it's disengaging the belt or something.

If you start messing with bigger stuff than the kart was designed for, your going to break something of have it wear out faster. If its going to be all street, then dont get knobby tires. slicks or something with less agressive tread (like the turf saver, or saw pattern) will be a good choice.
