There is only about a 150 RPM difference between 4.56 and 4.88 gears at 75 mph on the highway. There are plenty of people running 5.29’s without any problems. Another option is to regear the transfer case with 10% high range underdrive and 25% low range gear reduction. No more constant up and down shifting, it stays in 8th gear like it should, and I have not noticed any harsher down shifting.
