Frida Kahlo was a female painter who represented Mexican modern art, and her reputation has been growing in recent years. When she was eighteen she was in a traffic accident, and suffered from its aftereffects throughout her life. She fought the pain by painting.Kahlo was born in the suburbs of Mexico City in 1907; her father was a Hungarian-Jewish immigrant and her mother a Mestizo from Oaxaca. After contracting polio at the age of six and later sustaining life-altering injures in a traffic accident in 1925, Kahlo developed a complex relationship with her body.
