Why do balloons show up on facetime.

Recently I started noticing that a weird, unknown blue thumbs in what appears to be a thought bubble started randomly showing up during Teams meeting. It is super annoying, distracting and comes across as weird. What is this? How do I disable it? I am not using any filters, backgrounds, emojis, etc. This only happens in Teams and nowhere else.These are reactions that happen when on FaceTime but they work on any video call like Snapchat too.
